Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Clear watery vaginal discharge with foul odor. What could this be?
Recently i have noticed a very foul odor "down there". I will bathe and 10 minutes later the smell is back. There is no thick white discharge, but some that is clear and runny, like water.

What could this be and what could I do about the strange discharge and odor?

    * I have had BV many times and the discharge is always thick and white, not watery

    • ANSWER:
is it a "fishy" smell. Then if it is, it it most likely BV.

I have not heard BV to be a thick white discharge, it's usually clear and watery with a pungent "fishy" smell.

  2. QUESTION:
I would like to know what causes watery vaginal discharge with an odor similar to ammonia?
It seems to happen several days after intercourse, and lasts a few days. I need to wear panty liners or pads because it just falls out of me. I am post-menopausal and have genital herpes, so Valtrex seems to get rid of it. I've asked my gynecologist, but she doesn't really have an answer.

    • ANSWER:
Glands inside your vagina and cervix make small amounts of fluid. This fluid flows out of the vagina each day, carrying out old cells that have lined the vagina. This is your body's way of keeping your vagina healthy and clean. The discharge is usually clear or milky and doesn't smell bad.

The color and thickness of the discharge change with your monthly cycle. The discharge is thicker when you ovulate (when one of your ovaries releases an egg), when a woman is breastfeeding or when a woman is sexually excited.

Changes that may signal a problem include an increase in the amount of discharge, a change in the color or smell of the discharge, and irritation, itchiness or burning in or around your vagina. This is called vaginitis. A discharge that's stained with blood when you're not having your period could also be a sign of a problem. Some other types of infections such as yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis can also cause discharge that is usually accompanied by odor such as beer/yeast/fish.

I would recommend that if you have any of these signs or any concerns regarding this you consult with your gynaecologist again, or since you have seen her, get a second opinion for a proper diagnosis and for proper treatment should you have anything other than just a normal vaginal discharge.

      Good luck :)

  3. QUESTION:
Watery vaginal discharge without odor, burning, or itching...problem or normal?
As stated above, I have a watery vaginal discharge without burning, itching, or an odor. There's a thin white coating on the inside of my vagina, but it's very minimal and it's not in patches. There's no pain during or after intercourse, or urination. Is this just normal discharge? It's embarrassing. I've only had one sex partner and we're both each other's first.
Technically, I don't have intercourse. I'm a lesbian. & neither one of us have had sex with anyone else, and we've been dating for about a year. I'm gonna me 19 in April and she just turned 18 in December, so I'm pretty sure it's not an STD. I just wanted to know if the discharge was normal or a type of infection.

  6. QUESTION:
Odor from clear, watery vaginal discharge...?
I know it's normal for a girl to have clear, liquid discharge, but today my boyfriend told me he thought it smelled a little fishy. I guess I've never really noticed. It has an odor and sometimes a strong odor, but I guess I never really gave it a second thought as I didn't think it smelled bad. Is it normal for it to have an odor? I'm curious as to what it might be and what I can do at home as well as going to the doctor to help with the smell.

  8. QUESTION:
i've been experiencing a watery vaginal discharge for over a month,?
its watery at first then dries to a very lite yellowish-white color and has a vinegar odor. I don't have any other symptoms, no pain or discomfort at all. I thought maybe it was a yeast infection and tried an over the counter medicine but after a few days the discharge and odor have returned....any idea what it could be?

    • ANSWER:
Your normal discharge will dry yellow when exposed to air. If it's coming out yellow, you could have a bacterial infection.

Have you started exercising more lately? The consistency of your discharge is effected by meds, illness, water intake, diet and exercise.

      Are you sexually active?

      Different Types of Discharge:

White: Thick, white discharge is common at the beginning and end of your cycle. Normal white discharge is not accompanied by itching. If itching is present, thick white discharge can indicate a yeast infection.

Clear and stretchy: This is "fertile" mucous and means you are ovulating.

Clear and watery: This occurs at different times of your cycle and can be particularly heavy after exercising.

Yellow or Green: May indicate an infection, especially if thick or clumpy like cottage cheese or has a foul odor.

Spotting Blood/Brown Discharge: May happen right after periods, and is just "cleaning out" your vagina. Old blood looks brown. This may occur when you are ovulating/mid-cycle.

      Different types of infections:

      Signs of yeast infections:
      White, cottage cheese-like discharge
Swelling and pain around the vulva
      Intense itching

      Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
      Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva

      Signs of trichomoniasis
A watery, yellowish or greenish bubbly discharge
      An unpleasant odor
      Pain and itching when urinating
      Most apparent after your period

  9. QUESTION:
    Brown vaginal discharge, odor, pain/itch?
My period ended Sat/Sun, and ever since I've had a light brown discharge with a distinct odor, accompanied by pain and itching in that area. The discharge is watery and slight but still smells strongly. I only used 1 tampon during this last period and definitely took it out, so it's not that. I'm only 15, far from sexually active, and would really rather not have to tell my mom about this, since, you know, it's embarrassing. So if all you have to say is "see a doctor," I'm probably not gonna follow your advice, sorry. Also, this probably isn't related, but just in case, yesterday I began to feel slightly nauseous, light-headed, cold/hot when no one else was, and had a headache. I came home from school and slept (waking up for periods of about fifteen minutes sporadically) til 10:45, when I went into the bathroom and started to wretch but never threw up. I think that may have been dehydration? Anyways... sorry for the gory details. Beyond dehydration, any idea what this is?

    • ANSWER:
You need to see your doctor. You may not like that idea, but that's all there is to it.

The symptoms you describe sound like TSS (toxic shock syndrome) which is a bacterial infection that is not uncommon to menstruating women who use tampons.

      http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/toxic_shock.html

Life isn't all about comfort; you're going to have to talk to your mom or call up your doctor's office and make the appointment on your own.

  10. QUESTION:
Recently I have had itching, strong odor(much like sweat) and clear watery discharge. What could this mean?
Recently after hanging out with my boyfriend I was biking home and noticed I had a very strong sweat like vaginal odor as well as watery discharge when I got home. I figured it was because I had biked 12 miles in the past two days, but three days after that I'm still having the clear watery discharge as well as the very strong vaginal odor, but now I'm having constant itching. I'm not sexually active and won't be for sometime. I have looked up the signs for yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. I don't know what's wrong. Help?

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like bacterial vaginosis, particularly if the smell is strong. Just pop and see your GP for a swab, nothing to be worried about but don't leave it to get worse. You could have gotten thrush as well from the long bike ride, that is a yeast infection that thrives in damp confined conditions. Your doctor will be able to help you, don't try to self diagnose with over the counter medicines you need a swab taking to be sure.

  11. QUESTION:
    Watery Vaginal Discharge?
this is most likely TMI but I'll continue on. For the past 2 months I've been having a really watery discharge. It literally looks like water, it has an odor, to me it's strong. I usually have to change my pantyliner 3-4times a day because of it. Sometimes when it dries it has a light yellowish look to it kind of like I peed. I don't recall having this type of discharge before and my gyno appt. isn't for another month. About a week ago I spotted some blood, it was about two days after I had sex. We used a condom but I know those aren't always 100% effective. I'm not on any birth control. Could this be a sign of pregnancy? Could the discharge be a sign of infection??
Thanks for all the help everyone!
But I did not wear pantyliners before this started happening. I just wear them now because if I don't I feel wet but I will definetly try going without them. I do itch. Sometimes it is really bad other times it's like nothing. There isn't any burning either just some itching every once and awhile. I do appreciate all the help!

  12. QUESTION:
Yellow vaginal discharge with no odor?
Saturday morning I had sex with my boyfriend of a week, we've had sex before but it was only twice and he'd had problems with getting an erection, but this weekend he didn't and was a lot bigger than before; it hurt a lot at some points but not bad enough for us to stop. I had slept for most of the day and when I woke up later that night it felt like I'd had a lot of watery discharge, almost to the point like I'd wet myself in my sleep. For the next day I was having a lot of clear discharge with a very mild odor that wasn't too abnormal; but then last night it turned slightly yellowish and now today it's slowed down quite a bit but it's a brighter yellow and thicker, with no odor.

I've also developed a pain in my lower left abdomen when I cough, but I can't be sure that that's related..

I'm really freaked out that we hurt something or that maybe he gave me an infection or STD? If anyone could help me I'd greatly appreciate it. I do plan to go get general tests done for infection and whatnot but I wont be able to for a few days and until then I'd like to be a little more informed with what I may be dealing with

    Thank you for your help!

  13. QUESTION:
sudden gush of watery vaginal discharge?
Today I was doing the dishes and I felt like I peed my pants (something I do not do regularly! lol). I went to the bathroom to check, and my underwear were soaked with a milky white, very watery discharge. I changed, and put a pantyliner on in case it happened again, which it did. Completely soaked the pantyliner. I didn't feel any pain or cramping, or any unusual sensations (I told my husband and he asked if I was thinking about him, ha ha, but no, I wasn't aroused or anything) and it did not have an odour, I haven't experienced any burning while peeing or anything like that either. I chart my periods, and according to my calendar I ovulated 10 days ago. My husband and I make love often, we don't use protection, but he pulls out. So we're not TTC, but if it happens it happens. Any ideas? I'm not worried, just wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could have been.

    Thanks!
Edit: It just happened again, while I was sitting on the edge of the bathtub washing my sons hair.

Sounds to me like you have a yeast infection... if so it will have a foul odor to it, (some might say fishy odor) the discharge and the odor you are talking about sounds like yeast infection... Go to the Doctor he will give you something for it, or you can try stuff (OTC) over the counter.

Watery brown discharge on the 15th day of my cycle?

During the day the discharge is very light, but when I wake up in the morning it comes out really watery and brown even at night it leaks out of me a little. I do not have any itching or discomfort nor pain and odor, so I assume this is not a yeast infection. Can anyone help with an advice of what possibly could this mean and if I need to see a doctor?

  22. QUESTION:
    clear vaginal discharge?
every so often i have clear really watery vaginal discharge between periods. it lasts for a few days, has no odor, and really no substance at all.. its exactly like water.
most of it comes out right after i stand back up from peeing. sometimes its enough that i've got to wear a pad because it'll soak right thru a pantiliner.
it also sometimes happens when i'm just standing up, and i get a little crampy then it just wooshes out.

i asked a doctor about it, and all she said was that sometimes it happens with ovulation. thats all well and good, but is having that much come out at once abnormal?

i do think that its linked with ovulation, because it coincides with it most of the time.

it doesnt happen every month either. it'll happen for a few then go away for a few..
sex doesnt matter with it either, i havent had sex in 3 and a half months and its still happening, maybe worse than it used to be.

any ideas? i havent found anything online, PP sucks, and i've got crappy health ins.
i've also recently been tested for STDs.
i have HPV, one of the low risk strains, but from what i can understand that wouldnt cause this.
    i dont have anything else.

Excess vaginal discharge and cervix pain?
I've been having excessive vaginal discharge for the past couple of days. It is clear and watery with no odor but there is much more of it than I am used to. Today I noticed that my cervix hurts if any pressure is applied to it. Does anyone know what this could be? Thank you

  24. QUESTION:
Are a missed period, cramps, fatigue and yellow discharge with no odor or itching a sing of pregnancy?
My period was supposed to start 3 days ago, and I have been having cramps and vaginal discharge. It was clear and watery at first now it is whitish yellowish...I took a test in a hurry this morning it came out negative, could I still be pregnant? I am going to try again tomorrow morning...Please advise...

    • ANSWER:
Well the cramps and fatigue are a sign of both PMS and early pregnancy symptoms, though the discharge really isn't a symptom of pregnancy. During my pregnancy my discharge was watery like you said it was before. What worries me is that yellow discharge isn't really normal, though having no odor or itching dosent mean infection. Maybe your period is right on its way and that's why its making it yellowish. I would wait a few more days and take a test, if its positive congrats!! If not i would go to the doc. for a blood test. GOOD LUCK! :)

  25. QUESTION:
clear watery discharge at 26 weeks pregnant?
I'm 26 weeks pregnant and have been noticing lots of extra vaginal discharge. Over the last week or so, its been clear and watery. It's not a huge gush, doesn't run down my leg or nothing but it feelslike a lot because sometimes I can feel it..uh...come out. It's generally odorless. Saturday I was noticing it, and when I got out of the tub I let out some clear very funny smelling liquid (also clear and watery). I couldn't place the smell. But it was so bad smelling from leaking onto my pj bottoms and undies I had to clean up and sleep in the buff (luckily I didn't leak). I figured maybe it was water from the jacuzzi tub (warm water! And short time) and maybe I peed alittle (ick) causing the smell. Since its been back to the normal amount clear watery and no odor. I have a doc appointment next Thursday but in the meantime should I be worried?
That's what I figured, it was just water in there...but when it gave off the smell I ran to the bathroom. It could have been a that plus maybe a small amount of pee. I'm pretty sure the baby was pretty active at that time (usually is at night)

  26. QUESTION:
Embarrassingly heavy vaginal discharge, please help?
I have always had heavy vaginal discharge. I started at the age of about 10, before I hit puberty, at 11. Only lately it has been getting embarrassingly heavy, to the point of having to use a pad (not a simple pantyliner). It is thick white, and sticky, and sometimes watery. No odor, no pain, no itching. I am 19 years old, and a virgin. Is something wrong with me? Is this normal? What can I do?
Discharge lasts about 5-7 days. But this time around I am going for almost 4 weeks.

    • ANSWER:
NO...it does not mean you are ovulating. NO it is not normal. YOu are going to have to bite the bullet and go see your Dr....there is something wrong. Not seriously...but this is not right. There should never be more than just a stain in your underwear from clear discharge. I shouldn't tell you it is nothing serious, because I really don't know why you are having this...but I can tell you I am a mature woman and have not heard of this...so, not normal.

  27. QUESTION:
How can I make this vaginal discharge stop?
I have had mirena in now for one year, and the doctor said since i am breastfeeding, then it is normal for me to not have my period( which is weird, won't I bleed heavily when it is removed?) But that's not my question. I am having a cottage cheese like discharge, sometimes odor and sometimes not. After I shower I'm good for a while but then I start itching. Their is watery discharge also. This is a turn off for my husband during sex, and sometimes ruins the entire mood. How can I make this go away? It's been happening for 10 months now, I want to fix it before my husbands homecoming ,(he went out of town)

    • ANSWER:
From the description of symptoms and consistancy of the discharge, you may have a bacterial or yeast infection. You should make an appointment to see a gynecologist as soon as possible for proper evaluation and treatment. Good luck!

Is this vaginal discharge a sign of pregnancy?

But I recently went to get a pap and nothing was wrong with me, so I doubt I have an infection or anything. I did have sex the other day, without protection, but I doubt this means Im pregnant. Any ideas?

Oh, and just not too long ago, I had more but it was thick and white. Again, no odor. And I have no itching or burning feelings or anything.

    • ANSWER:
You are most likely ovulating. The discharge that you are experiencing is mucous. It occurs most times but sometimes it does not always come out. There are times when you go to the bathroom and wipe and you will notice the same discharge. This is really nothing to be concerned and you are most likely not pregnant, but if you are concerned about being pregnant you should take a test.

  31. QUESTION:
    Questions About Brown Vaginal Discharge?
I apologize for the graphic details.

It has been almost exactly two weeks since I had my period, and today I began to have brown, watery discharge. No blood seems to appear, just brown. I haven't had intercourse in two months, so it cannot be because of pregnancy. This is the first time this has ever happened, and I also do not have any other symptoms of pain or any unusual odor.

I am wondering if I should be concerned about this?
I have been tested for STDs - Negative

  33. QUESTION:
Vaginal odor even after I take a shower...?
For about a year I've had this weird urine like vaginal odor. I take showers daily and it still smells that way. I dont have any stds or infections. Also I have this watery clear discharge but when it hits my underwear it stains it brown (I've had that for a couple yrs now). It doesnt have a foul fishy smell it just smells like urine. When I was 17 doctors thought I might have PBS (painful bladder sydrome) aka IC. Do you think that's the cause for the odor. Its quite annoying and embarassing. I always feel self conisious before sex and I rarely let guys go down there. AGAIN I DONT HAVE ANY STDS OR INFECTIONS (BV, yeast infection etc) I'm clean I got tested about a 3wks ago and I get tested on the regular bases (plus I always have one sexual partner at one time).

    Serious answers only.
I cant douche; I'm pregnant. I have a guy doctor...thats going to be a weird convo.
I had a pap 3wks ago. I'm fine. No infection what so ever. Its been like this for awhile like stated above and I've ALWAYS been clean!!

  34. QUESTION:
5 days of very excessive vaginal discharge?
Since I was a teenager I've always had a little more than normal discharge amounts. Im now 25. I had a laparoscopy done 2 months ago for endometriosis and was not experiencing any negative side effects. Aside from a few endo spots, there were no other problems found.

I finished my period about 12 days ago.
5 days ago I woke up to my pajama pants soaked in the vagina and inner thigh area, I went to the bathroom and realized it was discharge, mostly watery, no significant odour, but it was everywhere. For months I've been having to pee very often (not pregnant, already been treated for a UTI), so I am catching most of the discharge during the day through normal bathroom visits, though it doesn't seem as heavy as it is in the morning. Every morning since I am waking up with my shorts/pants wet and sometimes my sheets under me are getting wet too. I don't think it's nearly thick enough to simply be ovulation even though the timing works.

My doctor is on vacation and I will be visiting a walk-in, but won't be able to for a few days still. I've had very bad luck with doctors misdiagnosing me and ignoring symptoms, so I would like to know if anyone's experienced something like this before and what was the cause/reasoning.

    • ANSWER:
Could be your body is trying to flush out from the laparoscopy test. Hopefully, the doctor you see will give you some answers. Sorry you are going through this.

  35. QUESTION:
    Is This Normal Discharge?
I'm 22 years old and very healthy (I just went to the OBGYN last month and everything was great, pap smear and exam). I've had clear, watery vaginal discharge every month now for a while. It's literally just like water, no odor or color and always comes about 5 days after my period. Does this mean something? Should I go back to my doctor (who is over an hour away due to student insurance and hard to get to)?

    • ANSWER:
I think it's just normal discharge.

  36. QUESTION:
    Increased vaginal discharge?
I have had increased vaginal discharge for about 3 months. It does not have an odor and is clear and watery. Occasionally it is a bit yellow but mostly just clear and watery. What is the cause of this?

    • ANSWER:
It could be anything really; just because it is clear and odorless does not mean anything. It could be chlamydia, gonorrhea, bacterial vaginosis, hyperirritation of the vaginal mucosa secondary to trauma or manipulation, or just idiopathic benign hypersecretions. You should go to the doctor to have some of that fluid looked under a microscope.

  37. QUESTION:
Vaginal Odor- but it isn't fishy or unpleasant?
I've had recurrent bacterial and yeast infections for the past two, going on three, months. Because I have a crappy HMO, I've been getting the same medicine over and over again even though it doesn't seem to FIX anything.

So, I currently have a clear, watery discharge that is relatively small (I still feel a bit dry). There's also a smell, almost a little like dead flowers, that is not unpleasant, but also not what it should smell like down there. there's supposed to have scent, and it ain't flowers. What is it?

    • ANSWER:
Seems like you have still got a bacterial infection, go back to your docs and tell them the meds isn't working, use some fem fresh wipes every time you go until it clears up.

26wks4days & notice a lot more discharge? Watery? May be TMI BUT NEED YOUR HELP!?
As the title reads I am 26wks 4days along. Sorry in advance if TMI~

I've noticed the past 4 days or so that I seem to be leaking a lot more vaginal discharge then usual. Normally, like only a few days ago, my vaginal discharge is thicker.. It sticks to my underwear and is white or clear - but very, very normal for me. Recently it's changed to almost a water-like-substance.

I feel like I've wet myself but I don't feel it coming out.. The wetness covers my whole panty-line and a little further back. Should I be worried?? :( I can't go by odor checks, because I've ALWAYS had a fairly unpleasant odor - even before pregnancy (cuz of hormones).

I can still feel my baby move. He still kicks, but not as much as usual... It's mostly him moving around, stretching, shifting... It warps my belly at times. I just figured he's doing that more now cause he's getting bigger. But he IS still kicking.. Just not as much as last week.

PLEASE HELP!! Thanks for reading. What could be happening? What should I do?.. :( xx
I lied - sometimes I DO feel the leaking sensation.. Like I do right now.. I'm sitting at the moment. But I still feel my baby shifting and such ~ PLEASE HELP!!??! :( ...

    • ANSWER:
I would go to your doctor, just to be on the safe side. Any change in discharge should be discussed with your doctor. The "water-like substance" may be amniotic fluid leaking out. I don't want to scare you, but it is possible. You'd want to see your doctor right away if that was the case. Hopefully it's just a change due to hormones. Good luck!

    • ANSWER:
Yes your discharge can change after so many weeks of being pregnant. I had a friend that had it just like you explained and she went to the hospital and they said it was a bacterial infection. The doc gave her meds and I guess it went away. We dont talk about stuff like that all the time if you know what I mean?! I wouldnt worry about it really unless it was pink, red, or has some pink flesh in it.

  40. QUESTION:
    Vaginal Discharge... Please Read!!!!!?
Ok.. I Have posted a bunch of questions about this starting from the beginning and now something new has happened so I am going to start from the beginning once more. Please read the whole thing. Please only answer if you know what could be going on and if you are not going to joke around about this.. Ok... It started in the middle of July.. I started Discharging and it was very thick and kinda yellow. It didn't have an odor but it was very constant. I assumed the guy I had broke up with a few weeks before had given me something so around the middle of august I finally made it to my doctor. He said during my exam everything was fine and normal and he tested me for EVERY STD and everything came back normal there too.. So he said it might be a hormonal thing to wait it out and see... Well I waited and it got worse.. About the beginning of Sept I started cramping so bad that I almost felt as if I was in Labor.. And the discharge changed to bloody discharge then some blood clots or body tissue pieces started coming out to then I just started bleeding and not period bleeding but more heavier. Then I went to the ER and they once again said they needed to test me for STD which once again they all came back normal.. They gave me a pap and such.. Normal.. The took 5 tubes of blood.. Normal... The checked my merina IUD.. Normal.. Pregnancy test.. Nothing.. Everything came back as normal AGAIN... So I have had merina in for 2 1/2 years now and I have not had a period since.. So I thought my my body is trying to start having them again and its just not used to it or something.. And I stopped everything about 2 days ago.. No blood, no discharge.. Nothing.. But then about an hour ago im sitting here talking on the phone and I feel a big gush of fluid.. No pee something thicker but not thick enough to feel like discharge.. I went to the bathroom and wiped and looked down and there was like watery orange discharge.. And a lot of it.. So what the hell is going on.. Everything comes back fine with 2 different doctors.. but this crap is not normal.. OBVIOUSLY its not normal.. could this be something passed my merina that they cant see from a normal exam.. And if so what could it be..

    • ANSWER:
Okay well you said you have mirena? right? I really think that is what is causing all this craziness. I also have mirena and have studied up on it quite a bit. The cramping, bleeding, and strange discharge all could be related to the IUD. How long have you had the IUD? Maybe its time for a change? Alot of women with mirena experience a strange discharge or an increase in discharge and as far as bleeding we both know thats expected.

  41. QUESTION:
Vaginal Discharge in a 13 year old??PLEASE HELP?
I have irregular periods but i just got off my period about four days ago and everyday i have a light brown discharge that is sortof watery. But stains my panties. And it has an odor??? What is it I know its not my period.

    • ANSWER:
It's normal to discreet a brownish discharge after your period, because not all of the blood has been cleansed from your body. It's going to smell bad because it's old blood.
I don't think you have anything to worry about.
If when your discharge returns to normal (which it should within a few days) and it's thicker, a different color, or has an unusual odor you should probably see a doctor to test for any vaginal infections. It's common to have them and I'm not talking about sexually transmitted infections, so don't worry.

Hi Veronica, no one here is qualified to answer you as no gynecological exams can be done on the web (maybe one day?).
I do think the discharge is normal but, as I said, I am no doctor nor is it possible to know. Why not have a real good gynecological exam, maybe after the abortion there are adhesion's? It has to be looked into and examined.

  45. QUESTION:
Watery Discharge . Could it be a yeast infection?
Well, I had a very swollen vagina lately, which within the past 3 days went completely back to normal but, I have questions: My vagina is still pretty itchy and it irritates me and is un comfortable from time to time ; has burning sensations at times. And , when it was healing the skin around my vaginal was dry and flaking , I've also been having some anal itching, and I've been having a LOT of watery discharge. It's soaking through my underwear to some extent . I don't really notice an odor at all but, the discharge ranges from a clear white to a faint yellow color . I looked up symptoms of a yeast infection and that pretty much sounds like what it is but I would like second opinions.
Should I pick up a yeast infection treatment ?
Someone mentioned that yeast infections have a cottage cheese looking discharge.. I know, but I read this , " odorless vaginal discharge (may be thick whitish-gray and cottage-cheese-like or may be watery in consistency) "
I guess it can be watery as well.
Oh, I would also like to mention that when I use the washroom , I realize there is about one or two gobs of yellowy discharge sitting on the bottom of the toilet.
( Sometimes* when I use the washroom is what I meant to say )

    Excessive vaginal discharge?
Ok ive been having excessive vaginal for about a week now. It started right after my period ended. There is no abnormal odor to speak of and there is no itching or irritation. The discharge is often milky white and at times has a mucus -like consistency but most of the time it is watery.

In case it helps i have been having unprotected sex... but not since before my period.

Someone please help im a lil nervous

I would recommend that if you have any of these signs or any concerns regarding this you consult with your doctor for a proper diagnosis and for proper treatment should you have anything other than just a normal vaginal discharge.

      Good luck :)

  47. QUESTION:
    Vaginal Discharge...?
Typically, my normal vaginal discharge is thick and creamy, usually a milky color, but for a week or two I haven't been experiencing any form of discharge (I've been very dry) and as of two days ago I've started experiencing discharge that's a big more watery and has small lumps or chunks in it. There's no bad smell or funky color, it's white and odorless like it's always been, so what is wrong with me?

I've googled lumpy/cottage cheese like discharge and it usually takes me to something about a yeast infection, but I am experiencing none of the burning or itching, odor or smell... so could it still be a yeast infection? What else could it be, if not that?
I'm seventeen years old... so for anybody who says go to the doctor... how do I bring this up to my mom without having any problems? I mean, she asks "Why?" to everything, so yeah.

  49. QUESTION:
How do I get rid of this Odor?
I have 2 children a 2 yr old and a 5 mo old. It all started after having the 2 year old.I currently had Mirena inserted thinking it might have been hormonal but no change. I was shortly on Spironolactone and Metformin for a hormone imbalance and to help with weight loss and didn't notice any change then either. It is an odd vaginal odor, not fishy though, and a really watery discharge that will turn my underwear a brownish color. It's not old blood or anything like that. I have told my doctor about it numerous times and he told me to try an OTC yeast infection kit. So I did and it helped for a few days but then it was back. Then another doctor told me it was normal odor. But I was clean at the time since I always shower before going to the Ob/Gyn. I shower daily and sometimes I use powder but that doesn't always help. I am not sure what I can do about this. I feel like I have to shower before sex with my husband because I am embarrassed about it. Does anyone know of any vitamins or anything that could help?

      wash more down there

  50. QUESTION:
What is causing my vaginal discharge?
Ever since having an IUD put in about 7 months ago, I've had a LOT of vaginal discharge. I have to wear pads all the time or else it soaks through my pants. It's very thin and watery, usually clear or white, and doesn't have much of an odor so I highly doubt that it's a yeast infection (as many people have suggested when I say I have discharge.) I assume that it has to do with the IUD, since I didn't have this problem before getting it put in. Could this be something serious?
